haha, yes, at my very first Collegium I learned a bit about the freakout/insistence thing (and was baffled because I was nineteen and just wanted to weave a basket and dip into blackwork embroidery).

I admire your manifold (manigfealdne) approach, FWIW. I guess I commit at the 45% level but find it hard to tip even as far as 65%, which is partly how I never swung back towards SCA after escaping certain toxic interactions. Even now, I disclaim knitting more often than not. The things one learns inform one another and thus oneself, IMO, but I agree that it can be hard to see, perhaps especially for others to see.
