The SCA is an outstanding meta-hobby! You can collect all sorts of disparate hobbies within it.

I have no idea whether you've got an active or congenial local SCA group. Going to events can get expensive, but in my experience local groups (when they exist) work pretty hard on finding ways to get people involved that don't require big up-front investments.
