Religious Guilt
I got into the University of Washington yesterday, courtesy of one of my professors and massive networking; I intend to knit her a scarf, once I finish the seven promised pairs of socks. No money yet, but it's much more likely than it was.
Anyway, my mother called to thank me and instructed me to light a candle to Ganesh, since financial matters are his department. It occurs to me that these problems are clearly all my fault for losing a small figure of Ganesh somewhere between New Jersey and Prague last summer. Am burning things even as I write, in an attempt to rectify the situation.
