Geeky Things I Want For My Birthday

  • A LaTeX manual
  • RPG books, especially Mage, Feng Shui, or Aberrant
  • Castles Made of Sand, Gwyneth Jones
  • The Magnetic Fields, Sixty-Nine Love Songs

One can always hope, right?

I am assuming my geek-iness is not yet up to notch with yours as I am reading the list, feeling clueless. At first sight, I thought there was a manual on the usage of latex (as in the rubbery material used for contraceptives) and wondered why anyone would need instructions for it. After thinking, I have come to the conclusion that "latex" does not refer to this, and probably refers to something I have never heard of. Possibly have to do with computers, or operating systems, or a subject beyong my limited intelligence.

Happy Chinese New Year, BTW... ;)

Soon you will be showered with gifts. Have no fear.

Would it be an even better gift if I sent a copy of Mage: The Awakening back to you, so you would be the only person in 2003 to have it?
Actually, no, it probably wouldn't.

My experience with White Wolf is that even more than other roleplaying games, they depend on mystery, only they depend on leaving plot and character and the like open to the players even more. But once they started churning out "Cincinnati by Night", it kind of lost that entire appeal. You know?
