The Light of Saint Bunstable scroll is done, save for seal, signatures, and the name of the recipient. Small images are below the cut; larger ones are linked.
I dig the squirrel ;) Lovely calligraphy, very even. What are you using for your gold size on the initial A?
I never did get a response to my email asking what the standard wording is for An Tir AoA's; I don't want to assume that y'all are as lax about wordings as the Midrealm is. I should get off my butt and email your signet again, eh?
Come on; Laurelen waited 26 years for his AoA from me; this isn't so bad, right? ;)
I'm using PVA adhesive and fake gold leaf which somebody gave me sometime in high school. Was just thinking that I should really take someone's class and learn how to do this the right way . . .
I've translated scroll wordings into other languages without anyone getting particularly upset. We do have a new Kingdom Scribe, whose e-mail address is here:
Honeychild, just get a small hematite or agate stone from the $1 each bin at the local rock shop. Check to make sure there aren't any scratches in the surface (or that they're all on one side and you can remember which side is good!) and you've got yourself a good burnisher. If you want to be extra fancy you can attach an old penholder to it.
I know a lot of folks who swear by the PVA stuff, and it does attach gold to paper admirably, I personally don't like the flexibility of the surface; a harder size will allow you to burnish more and get a higher shine.
key-ooote little guys! I especially like the ROCK over the initial. That is, like, utterly cool.
And your calligraphy kicks so hard I'm hurting! Ow! Oh! Ursula's beating me with her mad leet calligraphing skillz! Look at those "A"s. Those are KILLER. Oh, and the "g"'s! The "G"s are spanking!
Yeah, the design is more or less based on a manuscript called the Free Warren Charter. It's a grant of hunting rights, so it has little drawings in the margins of animals to hunt. We picked it for the bunnies. (There's a good illustration in The Cambridge Illuminations, which I have checked out and probably overdue from the library. Gorgeous book, if you can find it.)
