I was going to go to Portland this weekend. I made it to a truck loading zone just off the James St. exit, downtown Seattle, where I called glasseye and AAA. glasseye found my spare tire, and the AAA towtruck driver jacked up my car with his fancy jack and told me where to find more air-- and then followed me to the gas station to warn me that my brake lights weren't working. So no more car for me, until we fix the brake lights (I'm hoping a connection has just been knocked loose) and pay someone to put a new tire on this rim.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

Lame about the tire! I still wish I knew why my tire disintegrated on me. Let me know if you need to go to Costco for a new tire.

Thanks! I actually have 4 summer tires, but they don't have rims.

I would sort of like to think that the neighbor who yelled at me for "forcing other people to park on the sidewalk" is out to get me. But I think this is the effect of one exit too many. The other side looks almost as bad.

This is a very strange looking failure. Seriously. It appears that you have enough tread on your tire, especially in the outside edge. Unless you are in the habit of hitting curbs or jumping off ramps, this is either deliberate or a bad job batch from the manufacturer. Personally I would take the tire to a tire store and get their opinion...you may have legal recourse.

And after I got up really early on a Sat morning to have the dress mock-up ready to try one... stupid tire!!! Stupid break lights!!!

No kidding. The brake lights are really worse-- the tire is more dramatic, but I know how to fix it.
