third time's the charm

I finally met rivendellrose. It took us a good ten minutes of sitting across from each other to introduce ourselves, though.

I also semi-volunteered for an entirely different office in the SCA; that is, I said I was willing to be the College of Saint Bunstable's Generic Third Officer. I celebrate the last day of my generally-ignored paid account with the following poll:

Heraldry seems as though it'd take less time than A&S anything.

I'm not sure that's actually true, given that being an SCA herald involves helping other people register names & devices, while being an A&S minister has "writing reports about cool craft projects other people do" as the only required activity.

However I am more likely to research people's names for them than to organize anything at all, so I suspect I'd be a better (book) herald than A&S minister.

In my experience, A&S minister is a nice slack-off office- anything you do beside your reports is icing. Brackenburye's been a great A&S minister, and all he's really done is organize classes at our weekly meetings. (Yay Smackinberry!)

Personally, I think you should become An Tir A&S champion so we can laud you with leaves of laurel and cheers when you stop by our camp at Pennsic. (You ARE a Cleftlander by association, whether you want to be or not. :P)

hehe - that was what I was telling her - she needs to come up to the A&S championship in the middle of bfe Canada next spring and go for it! Of course, it is part of the job description that you are supposed to get people to compete the next year... :-)

Well, I think you should do things for yourself like, say, hanging out at lots of events. Failing that, I would probably be most entertained if you were a kingdom-level herald. A&S officer can be fun, but it depends on your group and how amenable they are to actually doing things like A&S nights. It can be quite thankless if people are unmotivated - then you get stuck doing reports without fun stuff. Of course the reports are then quite short. At least you would be helping to do kingdom level heraldry stuff.

Well, lots of events are in my future, though why I'm planning to come to an event *this* weekend when I have a final due Mon. rather escapes me.

Is it just me, or are you trying to drag me into court? :)

yay! coming to event this weekend! with finals due! yay! i have two papers due on monday and am uncharacteristically doing them early just so i can go this weekend. so quit yer whining! ;)

if you are going to procrastinate, do it right! Why would you come down to an event for only one day? Bring work - that is what the rest of us losers are doing. Everyone will think I am insane because I will be talking to myself constantly (while looking at Art History flashcards of course). Join the fun. :-) I only have two finals on Monday...
