A velokab can more or less pilot itself. But machines can’t make moral choices. Or strategic ones either, supposedly. That’s why, if a kab ever crashes, its driver is supposed to pay the price.

When people talk about humans taking responsibility, they always seem to mean somebody else.

I still really love this story. I love the way there's clearly so much more of this world than we get to see, so many more events and connections just out of frame. I'd wish it were longer, but that's not really what I want.

What I want is more stories set in this universe, with these characters. (And I want Talga to get another kab!)

In my head, what happens is Rauzanet raises some money and Talga figures out how to sell their kab license, and then Talga buys into an electrician's co-op. They're a little bit scarred by their experience, but they're also ready to learn something big and new.

I definitely plan to write more about this universe! But the next thing might come from the folder on my laptop labeled "judge saint spy".

Well, I'm relieved on Talga's account. Phew. Good to know they're going to come out of this okay. Electrician seems like a good future for them.

I enjoyed this a lot! It's got the kind of worldbuilding I love, a lot of little details building up a big picture, with a fairly straightforward story at its core, and interesting characters. I also would read more in this univers!
