So there's this </td><td valign="top">You are a geek. Good for you! Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you'll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment. Assuming you're a technical geek, you'll be able to afford it, too. If you're not a technical geek, you're geek enough to mate with a technical geek and thereby get the needed dough. Dating tip: Don't date a geek of the same persuasion as you. You'll constantly try to out-geek the other.</td>
You are 60% geek

Take the Polygeek Quiz at Thudfactor.com

. Now, this quiz has many problems, one of them being that it increases the geek score for owning CDs, and I must say that I'm far too geek to own that many CDs. However, there is one sadly accurate comment:

Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you'll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment . . . Now, I have just acquired the following geeky items:

  • 9 Micro-Machines Jawas
  • Sixty-Nine Love Songs (For those of you with prurient interest in my life, this is a hilarious make-out CD)
  • New edition of Mage: The Ascension

It's all just embarrassing sometimes.

Also I reread Elizabeth Moon's Against the Odds before [livejournal.com profile] glasseye could get to it. Can't say it's well-written, but the characters are all so adorably lawful good . . .

Looking at the code for the quiz, it scores the various CDs differently. This is accurate, as owning a Britney Spears CD makes you anathema to geek-kind.

However, many of the distinctions here are very silly. Owning broadway musicals makes one geeky? Wierd Al is the epitome of geekiness? Having bad taste in music does not make one a geek.

Having N'Sync and Britney Spears CDs costs you points, as does having 0 Wierd Al CDs. Other than those, yes, more CDs = more points.
